Saturday’s event was a little
different to the last one. The weather
was a bit warmer too although it was wet underfoot. The starter exercise was that children had to
follow a course with their teachers and/or parents to get to the start. A practice loop of 6 controls was then
done. The main competition was a relay
race for teams of 2 or 3 children with 6 legs.
There was much excitement and encouragement as those
running were in view of others watching for most of the time. Everyone did very well getting the idea very
quickly and managing well with the complications of a relay. One bit of advice for all is to follow the
map more carefully. Some children did
run a bit further than they needed to and some of this could have been avoided
by spending a few extra seconds looking at the map.
Congratulations to the winners and
to everyone else. It was pleasing to see
some of those who came last time coming back for another go.
I hope everyone will come to another
event next term. The date and place are
not fixed yet but perhaps the middle of May and perhaps at Burton Constable.
