The seventh event of the 2002 series threatened to be a washout but the earlier heavy rain kindly ceased to give a dry evening although visibility on the grasslands was severely reduced. Risby destroyed the commonly held view that Lincolnshire is entirely flat with some taxing climbs up the scarp slope of the Wolds. On an area difficult to plan Dave Offler produced good courses with numerous new control sites. Mad cow disease took on a new meaning as the bovine fraternity seemed intent on taking part in the proceedings. Long course regular Mike Smith stepped down to record maximum points on the short ahead of improving namesake Lee with northbank's Peter Robinson a close third. The long course is becoming a regular tussle between Neil Harvatt and Max Guscott with Neil just 24 seconds ahead on the night. As nobody is able to claim 2 trophies in one season John Bennett may yet figure in the end of season prize-giving at the Salutation Inn. The Cleethorpes duo of Brian Slater and Rob Gordon were both among the front runners showing a liking for the heavily contoured area and the value of training on the East Coast sand dunes! A special plea to anyone who has the results of any of the Poacher events of 1997 and 2000.Please contact the organiser.
