Normanby Park South proved that a large area of forest is not required for a successful Poacher event. John Smith produced two technical courses that needed maximum concentration which suited short course surprise winner Dorothy Smith - the first lady to do so since Jancis Vaughan in 1997. Indeed the area seemed to suit the ladies who occupied 3 of the top 4 places. Two super vets also did well with Harry Milton in 7th and the Brian Butler twosome a great ninth. Neil Harvatt had a virtually flawless run to easily win the long course closing the gap on league table leader Max Guscott. Behind him the Cambridge Park duo of Dave Offler and Brian Slater could yet come into contention for the Masters title.
