After 2 months of vegetation growth Middle Rasen turned out to be much more challenging than the April Colour Coded event. Brian Slater set two tough courses with short course competitors, bar one, finding successful navigation elusive. Ben Offler moved to the top of the league with a big win but only leads by a narrow margin. Metheringham's Richard Pickworth broke into the top five for the first time this year with a competitive run. A number of entrants must be congratulated on their perseverance in finding every control notably Ray Bristow and Junior newcomer Chris Merriman. 3 control cards are still not in on the short course so these results remain provisional. Max Guscott signed off with another clear win on the long and is virtually unassailable for the overall title. The Vets 40+ title is a close contest between Neil Harvatt, last year's winner, and Beverley's MDOC representative Dean Field and will probably go to the wire with Log's John Bennett waiting in the wings for a slip up. Next week is a very different area- Normanby Park with its largely treeless sandy terrain.
