After a gap of 2 years Nettleton Woods returned to a beefed up scale of 1:7500 courtesy of planners Mike and Dorothy Smith. Mike ignored the wood north of the road to give long course competitors a map exchange. Despite some waterlogged areas after heavy afternoon rain the runability was good particulary in the southern area of the map. Competitors needed to be vigilant with several short and long course controls close together. After threatening the lead last week Paul Beresford ran strongly to win the long course - his first Poacher victory, ahead of league leader Dean Field and Pete Kullich who amazed himself by coming third! Late arrival Ultra Vet Mark Tyszka had a rare outing on the short course winning ahead of league leader Logger Andy Furnell who consolidated his position. Former short course champion Henry Rayment returned to form with third place in front of Metheringham duo Karl and Richard Pickworth. Middle Rasen next week - note parking is on the Walesby side of the wood near the caravan park. See you all next week - PK.
