The Poacher Series is now in its eighth year and Normanby Park has figured every year. However, the changing technical nature of the area continues to bedevil competitors, few of whom managed an error free run. Planner Neil Harvatt expertly updated the map and provided plenty of new control sites. Peter Fulwood justified his journey from deepest Lincolnshire as he swept aside the long course field finishing over 11 minutes clear of anyone. Behind Junior Ben Offler in second and Land Economist Andy Houlden in third both achieved their highest ever Poacher position. A significant performance came from Offler Senior in sixth- Dave looks to be back after a long term knee injury. The short course saw ultra vet John Butler obliterate the competition nearly 6 minutes clear, and it now looks as though the trophy is a two horse race with Grimsby's Lee Smith the other one in the frame. Third placed Tracy Blackburn achieved by far her best ever Poacher performance. After missing last week's event, the first time since 1999, she stunned herself and others with a tremendous run. Also excelling was Kirmington's Digby Sowerby in fourth and the Pickworth duo from Metheringham in fifth and Grimsby's Geoff Smith building on his recent runs with sixth. Middle Rasen beckons.
