Poacher went electronic for the first time thanks to the work of planner Brian Slater. This one off facility allowed competitors to compare splits times but limited the scope for exaggerating any time lost. Results were also on the web within minutes allowing competitors to access their times on mobile phones shortly afterwards. Brian sent runners through some nice runnable areas which should continue for the last two events. British age group Champion Zac Field produced his best ever Poacher performance with maximum points on the short course with other runners also distinguishing themselves particularly Grasby's Gary Robinson in second, South Kelsey's Richard Soulby excelling in fourth and Caistor Grammar's Philip Cluff in a promising eighth. On the long Dean Field led the big entry hotly pursued by webmaster Martin Kullich and DVO's Paul Beresford. Fiona Forest returned with an excellent fourth. Ex Southdowns orienteer Rod Williams took some notable scalps with eighth. The league tables indicate several very close battles will continue for the trophies notably in the Ladies section and the short course overall championship.
