At a sunny Brompton Dale planner Mal Humphrey adopted the minimalistic approach with fewer controls than normal but plenty of route choice coupled with a mammoth lung bursting challenging last leg to the finish. The two major Poacher Trophy classes were resolved for 2005 with wins for Dean Field on the long and Lee Smith on the short. The Junior and Ladies classes are the closest since Poacher started in 1997 with just 2 points separating British champion Zac Field from Caistor Grammar's Eleanor Humphrey who claimed an excellent second place on the night. Three Ladies are still in with a chance although Grimsby's Tracy Blackburn looks to be the bookie's favourite. Next week Pillar-Halo's most runnable wood, is followed by the prize giving at the Queen's Head- all are welcome!
