Planners Harry and Peggy Milton belied their age as they produced two enjoyable courses on a beautiful summer's evening. The tricky terrain posed many problems for competitors particularly in the central area of knolls and the ever changing vegetation boundaries. The form book was turned upside down on the short course where Junior Ben Beresford claimed maximum points just ahead of Lincoln's Kaele Pilcher who showed a welcome return to form. Kirmington's William Sowerby in third was well pleased with his best performance of the year, a mere 13 seconds ahead of Isle of Axholme runner Alan Robinson. Long course winner Neil Harvatt maintained his unbeatable form of recent years at Normanby and was rewarded with the job of planning the event here in 2007! Not too many runners were very pleased with their performance on the long course. However, that did not apply to Andy Houlden, Cleethorpes' Brian Slater, Brigg's Pete Shew and Log's Andy Furnell all posting their best Poacher 2006 positions so far. Everyone is reminded that in two weeks after the final event at Pillar Wood, the Poacher Trophy evening takes place . All are welcome to come along and take part in the usual post series analysis. Next week Poacher is on the highest part of Lincolnshire at Normanby-le-Wold. Altitude training is recommended!!
