Poacher 2007 finished as it started- in glorious sunny weather, enjoyed by a 50+ turnout. Planner Malcolm Humphrey gave Long course entrants the longest leg of the series ( and probably the longest ever in Poacher history ) making up a third of the entire course, resulting in many different route choices. Short course competitors, just as they were tiring, were given a battery of short legs in a particularly runnable part of the excellent Pillar Wood. Log's Liam Harrington used his running speed to good effect to open up a near 2 minute lead on his nearest opposition to gain maximum points on the Long course. Grimsby's Lee Smith was the closest he has been to the front runners with an excellent fourth just ahead of Caistor's Michael Robinson well pleased with his fifth place. Junior Champion Jake Field also had 2 minutes to spare as he gained maximum points on the Short course ahead of Barkwith's Mel Clark. Harriet Gillman was the leading Lady on the night with a promising 5th place. The 2007 Series, attracting record numbers, culminated in a well attended presentation evening at the Queen's Head . 2007 CHAMPIONS.
