East Park Winter Event

Saturday 28th January 2012

Description     White, Yellow, Orange and a Technical Course. Fees £2 adults, £1 juniors - pay one fee and attempt as many courses as you are able. Starts from 10am to 12 noon. Coaching available. Starts and Finish from in front of the Pavilion Cafe. Second round of the 2012 HALO Saturday League. Directions The only vehicular entrance to East Park is on Holderness Road. If travelling from the west of Hull, follow the A63 through the city and over the River Hull (you’ll see the tidal barrier on your right). Go straight on at the next roundabout and then leave the A63 via slip road signposted Bridlington A165. You will pass a KFC and ASDA on your right, then turn right onto Holderness Road (still signposted to Bridlington). The entrance to East Park is approximately 1km on your left, just after the start to the dual carriageway. (Grid reference TA 121 308). Parking There are three parking areas as well as road side parking. The nearest parking area is to the right once you have entered the park, just follow the road around. Please be aware there may be competitors crossing roads as you arrive and/or depart. The registration area will be on grass in front of the Pavilion café. Toilets are available in the Pavilion Café. East Park information East Park opened in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. At 130 acres, this Grade II listed park is the largest in Hull. It supports many facilities including a free mini zoo, a boating lake (no boats in January), a model yacht pond, a café (Open in January), children’s play areas, garden areas and tree lined avenues. The complexity of recently planted shrubbery and the size of the park should provide a suitable Orienteering challenge. Bring all the family – there is plenty to do and see.
