Willingham Woods has always been a challenging physical area, ever since I planned a 'Norwegian' map memory course in the Poacher early years (an easily forgettable experience for Dean if I remember). The forest has changed significantly with a lot more 'green' and a lot more MTB tracks - so to plan suitable courses is a challenge in itself. Chairman Brian succeeded on all fronts, producing technical courses with plenty of route choice options utilising the most runnable areas with plenty of control picking on Hamilton Hill. On the Short Course a good well earned first victory for Elspeth beating Holly and sister Flora. The Medium Course this year is wide open - now Lawrence can now concentrate on a Silver Cup rather than a Waterford Crystal Vase he could well mastermind a victory.Yasmin,Chris,Joe and Luke are all showing consistency, and with Kate (who is a W not M - apologies) having a minor set back there are plenty of trophies up for grabs with plenty of twists and turns expected. Good performances from Emily, Isoldt and Kaele this week. Another storming performance from Zac this week nearly 5 minutes clear of Liam, but with his return to Uni imminent the latter will be in the hunt for top spot with clubmate Paul who was absent (was he really still looking for his first control of JK Day 2 in the Brecon Beacons?). Jake this year seems to be more focused and getting as consistent as his sister with another podium finish. Neil is regretting not playing his Joker. All planners are being very cagey this year on when to play their Joker - expect a rush at Primrose?
Next week it is the eagerly anticipated Twigmoor Woods using a new map in an area 'unLinconshire like' according to planners M & D. Regrettably no dogs allowed with sheep being in the vicinity; also please close gate after entering parking field.

Apologies to those who had to wait for a 'Medium' map. I found 15 on my PC desk when I got home (old age). I will bring them next week for those who like to keep records, or I will send a 'pdf' electronically if you request one. bslaterclee@yahoo.com
