Lincolnshire Poacher 2019

This popular Wednesday evening series returns in 2019 in the usual format of eight events with normal forest courses followed by three events with multiple courses to be run by each competitor.

This series was conceived as a training series, but has reached considerable support in its own right. To this end, a post event debrief is held at a local hostelry for the comparison of performances and for the refreshing of the body.

However, it still retains the objective of training at its root, hence the retention of the Short (Yellow) course for novice and improving orienteers. The courses this year are:

  • Short - 1.5km to 2km, easy. Suitable for newcomers and improvers.
  • Medium - 2.5km to 3.2km. For more experienced competitors, technically difficult.
  • Long - 4.5km to 6km. Technically difficult and physical.
The Short course will be planned according to BOF guidelines. 1.5 - 2.0 km length with controls on or next to paths on large, distinct features. Coaching will also be available for newcomers and those who intend to do the Short course. If you would like some coaching please contact the organiser who will arrange for one of our qualified coaches to meet you at the beginning of an event.

A league table is maintained for the more competitive of you, and prizes are awarded on the evening of the last event.

The cost of entry this year remain the same:

  • Senior (21 and over)  £4.
  • Junior (under 21)  £2.
  • Family £10.

Non-members will be charged £1 for hire of a dibber if they haven't got their own, members will be loaned a dibber for free. NOTE: because of third party insurance limitations, non-members may not compete more than three times in any year.

The best 8 points scores count  towards Series League positions.

Course Planners also can play a Joker so that they may accrue points at the event that they have planned. They must choose another event (before competing in it) and the points scored at that event will also be awarded for the event that they planned. Choose well.
