Notes | For World Orienteering Day, Pete H has decreed double Poacher points. This has taken the form of a phantom event 5A in the league tables with the same points as this event. |
Report | Hope you all enjoyed your World Orienteering Day experience and made the most of the double points on offer. Thanks to Brian, firstly for the excellent planning of all the courses and finding some new control sites (was that really a boulder?) and secondly to Pete S who was able to compute the League Tables successfully. Keep updated on IOF website to follow the number of WOD participants - my next job is to include your run. The Short course was a closely run affair with Hannah able to fend off Elizabeth's and Oliver's challenge. Any Junior (or Senior for that matter) who want a Diploma to mark their WOD run contact me or download your own from the WOD website (Publicity section). The Medium competition is really hotting up with plenty of contenders for Title honours, the hot and cold Lawrence, the crocked Megan and Yasmin, the consistent Simmonds duo, the ever improving Holly and buddy Emily and young Ben. Performance of the day must be Holly, who comes from a running pedigree but is an orienteering novice, but finished a creditable 4th. The Long Course Champion elect Liam produced another fine run beating Dave by 2.5 minutes. There are other battles to watch for title honours, notably (Kate v Helena for Ladies) and (Pete S v Mike for Ultra Vets). Dean must have woken up in a state of shock this morning(no not the result of the 25 ros(I)es he sent earlier in the day - but being top of the League) - playing that Joker early was worthwhile, even if it will be short lived. If you want to continue your Orienteering this weekend, why not travel to Sandall Beat near Doncaster racecourse, well worth the effort as Dean is planning or if not next week we are at Mausoleum Woods, which Dean is also planning. Thanks to Harriet, Helena and Mary for the kite collecting. |
