Report | As it is National Volunteer Week l must thank firstly Isoldt for putting out the controls whilst I was kicking a ball around in a tournament in Sleaford and trampling down some of the nettles. Secondly I must thank all those who volunteered to collect them in but only 5 required as I only used a limited amount in a limited area (Ben, Imogen, Dave, Dorothy, Mike - thank you). Plus Brian and Pete for their support as usual. The parking area had not been tarmacced after all so the event could have been held last week after all, when the nettles would have been 10cms less in height. The use of antiseptic cream certainly does work so I hope a little bit of pain was short lived. I hope you enjoyed the courses and using a 1:4000 map helped. On the Long it was a usual 1/2 with the margin over a minute for a change and it also means Liam retains his title for another year. Other good runs from Helena, Dean and Neil. On the Short, the Junior Girls excelled, and it means that Flora wins the Medium title and Imogen is in prime position for a trophy. Other good runs from Elena and John F. Next week we return to the 3 course Sprint format around the ex RAF base at Hemswell Cliff. |
